Today's we've got another strip from the man, the myth, the legend Ibai Canales
Edward's a pansy and we thought it would be funny to have him get murderized by another totally lame vampire. Then we decided that rather than using Blade (zing!), we should use a bad ass like The Count from Sesame Street. If you're into seeing children's TV characters at their worst, you should check out a video we made awhile back called Growing Up Hard In Imagination Land
Another thought entirely: Twilight, Harry Potter, and The Golden Compass have some shit in common. All three started as books and have made their way to the silver screen, and all three fuck with my head. Ignoring the varying literary merit, just look at their presentation of gender. Twilight seems to offer us a world in which females fall down a lot and need men to catch them--and if no man's around, the womens throw themselves down until a dude shows up. Harry Potter has plenty of strong females in it, but it's generally the men who do the heavy lifting. Finally my favorite--The Golden Compass depicts a totally bad ass chick. She's not a man hater or afraid of men, but she doesn't need them anymore than a fish needs a bicycle. She kicks ass. And here's the part that really fucks with my head. The Golden Compass is the only one written by a dude. Why are the biggest misogynists women?
You wonder too, don't you?
